In my alternate universe for whatever reason (nyc sued them, airplanes were never invented, etc) the Dodgers and Giants never moved out west allowing the PCL to take that last extra step and become a major league. I started my universe in modern times with the 16 team PCL having a combination of modern PCL teams (Fresno, El Paso) and some of the founding teams such as the LA Angels, SF Seals, and Portland Beavers.
I never liked 18 and 19 year olds in the minors so I abolished international discoveries and setup an exclusive college feeder system that plays it's games in from Nov to March (had to setup retractable roofs so weather wouldn't be a factor). That allows me to not have to setup up rookie leagues and only have A, AA, and AAA.
Now I'm thinking of setting up a smaller 14 team rival MLB on the east coast and have the same setup but include modern mlb teams and the two NY teams that never left. I don't want to have free agents crossing over but I'll allow trades. Then I'll setup an association and will get to watch them battle it out in an American Classic Championship every year. BTW, MLB will refuse to implement the DH rule.
