Running Steam version on Windows 10

Ran a standard league first to poke around and didn't try playing game but everything seemed to work fine.

Imported old ootp16 save game (sent via FTP "CBA 2016.lg.zip") and loaded fine. It always crashed (ootp17.exe has stopped working) at random points but I couldn't get too far. Sometimes after clicking on the first link or tab I chose, and I tried to choose different things each time. Sometimes it would let me progress a few screens before crashing.

Something corrupt in the league file? Given that standard MLB league seemed to work I didn't think it was a hardware problem on my end?
