Dearest Ida,

Greetings from Detroit. I finally got into a game for the first time this season yesterday, as Barnes came up lame while running the bases in Wednesday’s game. The team is not certain yet how serious his injury is, so this may be only for one game. However, I made the most of it as I got a single and a double and we won the game 12-2. The team is still struggling, but we have won three in a row, and I hope this may be a sign of things to come.

I shall have more to tell you when we return home next week. I look forward to seeing you.
