I play stats only too but it would be nice if the 'other ratings' could be broken down a bit more and perhaps be able to be individually turned on or off.
For the first season I turn on the others ratings (1-5 only to be as vague as possible) to get to know the guys already in the majors.
Fielding ratings are another one for me, because oftentimes I find a player has a better rating at a different position to the position they 'play'.
For instance in the game I'm playing now, starting out in Rimini in the Italian League, I have a player called Federico Castagnini who is down as a 3B. If the fielding ratings were off I could see that he can also play 1B and 2B, but not knowing him at all, I would assume his best position was 3B and as such probably not play him elsewhere. Perhaps an occasional 1B as cover but probably never have cause to stick him in at 2B.
However his fielding ratings on the 1-5 scale are 3B his game position, 1, 1B 1 but 2B is 3! So he is a much better 2nd Baseman than his other positions he can field but I'd probably never really get to know that as my other 2B is a decent fielder and can only play 2B, so I'd have no real reason to use him there other than perhaps to cover an injury.
So, although I play and much prefer stats only I think there are a couple of ratings worth knowing that you would 'know' in real life which is why I think it would be nice to have more on/off options with the ratings.
Well, that all got a bit long winded
Anyway I'm with Wolf on this one and as such now need to go and lay down
