Most likely for these instances it'll have to be moving from lower level to higher if the player played in diff. lgs. For lgs that are considered same level and have more than 1 affiliated team...it'll be random.
For Example 2 affiliates in same lg.:
Let's say a MLB team has 2 minor lg. affiliates in AA. In this case the player may start on tm. 1 and then move to tm. 2 or vice versa depending on how well I guess.
That would be awesome. Nothing wrong with guesses and randomness, as you've described, IMO.

I would think that if/when something like this is introduced, it would be more important for the historical txns for non-affiliated teams & career minor-leaguers to be in place (with all appropriate guesses and necessary randomness), because for affiliated teams, most gamers would want the AI or human GM to determine where/at what level in the organization the player should be - based upon OOTP (and not real-life) development.

In other words, I don't mind if in my sim Steve Garvey takes a similar path through the minors as he did in real life, but I'd prefer that he rise through the minors at rate and on a path that is dictated by his sim development (I don't want him forced to AAA if in the game he's struggling in AA)... Historical tnxs for those minor-leaguers who made the majors IRL would primarily be important from the perspective of when they changed major-league organizations.

A bit complicated, the more one contemplates it... At any rate, a fun goal for the future...
