No way of reversing it once it's done, unfortunately. But it looks like there is a bug there - the AI is doing that in the expectation that the IR counter is set retroactive to the date of the original injury, which in your case presumably would've meant he got off the IR at the same time the injury ended. However, now that I check it, it looks like it's using the date he was added to the IR as the starting point instead. We'll have to get that fixed.
