I've had my share of moments trying to wrap my head around how these kinds of additions could add immersion, etc... I'm not sure yet, but I'm a bit closer.
Fundamentally, we have to solve the first problem: have a history table of record that can present the entire coaching staff for that year or period of that year. Right now,
my primary goal in regard to this area is to at least be able to look at any year in a team's history and see the manager of record without a great deal of detective work. I think baseball reference displays it readily, IIRC. We need to get a first step in place and build on it from there.
Somewhere I had a link to one of the reference pages that enabled the user to select a team and see the entire coaching staff that year. I hope one day, we can do that as well, but like Lukas, I think that's a long way off. OTOH, simply a manager of record shouldn't be. We need that.
