Johnson dominates and stops Devere
Jack Johnson 31-1-0 (21) scored a one-sided TKO8 victory against an outclassed Bob Devere 22-6-0 (14). Johnson controlled every moment of the fight and he also dropped Devere on the fifth round with a body shot and again on the eight round with a quick barrage of punches. The referee stopped the fight later on the eighth round with Johnson landed punch after punch against a defensiveless Devere. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 70-62 (x2) and somehow 67-65 for Johnson.
Burns outpoints McCarty
Tommy Burns 24-3-1 (14) scored a UD10 win against Luther McCarty 31-2-3 (26). Burns dominated the first four rounds but from the fifth round to the ninth one McCarty did it better and both fighters alternated on the dominance. On the ninth round the referee deducted a point from Burns and on the last round Burns dropped McCarty with a hard hook. The scorecards were 96-93 and 97-92 (x2).
Dempsey destroys Armstrong
Jack Dempsey 27-1-1 (25) scored a dominant TKO7 win against Bob Armstrong 27-9-1 (22). Dempsey dropped Armstrong four times along the fight and dominated every minute of it. The referee was forced to stop the fight with Armstrong out on his feet at the middle stages of the seven round. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 59-50 (x3).
Corbett dominates Maher
Former title challenger James Corbett 26-2-0 (5) scored a wide UD10 win against Peter Maher 19-14-0 (10). Corbett dropped Maher on the first and sixth rounds and dominated most of the action across the fight. The scorecards were 98-90 (x2) and 99-89.
