it's really bad for your closer when you start winning that much. he only plays 40-some games and maybe gets 20-25saves.

draft pick trading is a little easy to exploit. you can always draft high, and once your minors are stocked, you rollover the ones that don't fit your plans for more draft picks. you can have 2-to-4 or more top picks every year (in the top-5 or top-10 depending). the first thing i did in the offseason was to trade my #1, #19-16 for the highest pick in return - usually the #1 but sometimes lower. then i wouldn't lose my #1 pick from free agent compensation.

since you always have a good amount of young players on your team, you can spend like a drunken sailor most years in the FA market. matching more expensive shorter FA contracts with club control years of the young'ens.

i didn't even spend my budget, i bet i could get to 150+ wins with draft pick trading on. i do not use that option in ootp16. i still peak at 120s-130s wins with my better teams over time.
I have draft pick trading in my historical league, because I want to get all of my favorite players, but I don't have it on in the league above. I tried to keep that league as competitive as possible, but since my budget is huge I was able to assemble this dream team. I also signed my best player (Bill Anderson) for 1/3 of what he should get, which has really helped.

I'll post my stacked historical mixup.
