Thanks for answering. I get that everyone is restricted to the same amount, but it does cause an unbalance to the game: all other teams for some reason are above their budget which makes it impossible to make trades for them outside of the July unless I eat in a lot of money, or I force a trade, which I don't like to do.

Also, I don't know my NHL contract rule history, but now that I'm in 2006 (after the lockout), isn't there a rule for rookies to have a cap on rookie contacts? Crosby (who I managed to draft @ 7th overall surprisingly) was asking for over 2 M, but I thought rookies could only go up to 925,000. Is this something you guys weren't expecting or were there some rule in 2006-07 that I'm not aware of.
