Playing out a tied game in the bottom of the 9th. My leadoff hitter strikes out and get ejected from the game and I am forced to replace him in the lineup.
The pitcher's spot in the line-up is due up third in the inning and I know the pinch hitter will take over in the outfield for the batter that was ejected and i know which pitcher I'm going to send out in the top of the 10th, so i put the pitcher in the empty space in the lineup.
The next batter hits a walk off home run. No problem there, but the pitcher who never took the mound was given credit for the win. This is odd, not only because he didn't pitch a single pitch, but the pitcher that should have been given credit for the win was still in the game and the
The bigger issue to me however, is that we shouldn't have to replace an injured or ejected player until the team takes the field or that players spot comes up to bat.
