Louisville Bourbons (53-74 .417 34.5 GB in 8th (last) place)

Jiggs Niedermeyer, Det. (25-5.8) (R 16-7 1.98 7.6-1.7-3.1 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Jumbo Hoops, Lou. (23-6.5) (R 17-15 2.63 7.3-1.7-3.7)

We are 1-2 against Hoops on the year in 4 starts, but have hit him pretty well the last 2 times we faced him after he held us in check the 1st 2.

The bench players get some action today.

Lost - 2 to 1

RF Tom Panozzo (24-2.0), the rookie that everyone one our team hated, hit a 2-run home run in the 4th inning that proved to be all the runs they needed.

Niedermeyer allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit.

Hoops gave us 6 hits, no walks and struck out 3.

We made 1 error and Louisville made 3.

CF Fred Negus (24-6.7) had 2 hits with a double and scored a run. LF/RF Ben Smith (29-6.7) hit a double and stole a base.

451 cranks were in the stands.

Liberty League:
Pittsburgh (15) at New York (7): Fred Horner (27-3.8) (5-10) over Tom McDowell (24-8.0) (22-16). Rookie 1B Lou Green (23-5.9) had 3 hits and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. 3B Al Oglesby (24-7.6) hit 2 triples, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBIs. SS Jim Ware (34-5.6) had 3 hits and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. LF Billy Galloway (27-5.3) hit 2 triples, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. For the Gothams, 2B Bill Baker (26-3.6) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the game, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Indianapolis (1) at Boston (12): Freddy Wood (32-6.3) (12-11) over Levi Giddens (36-4.8) (12-20). Wood allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. 3B Highball Baxter (22-5.7) had 2 hits with a double, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. RF Dan Abrams (30-5.1) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. LF Jocko Breton (25-4.5) had 3 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. 1B Bill Gordon (31-3.7) hit his 11th home run of the season.

Grand National Association:

Washington (15) at Providence (3): Pop Yurkovich (36-5.6) (20-26) over Ed Wison (27-7.3) (15-15). Yurkovich allowed 6 hits, 6 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had 2 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. Original Haymaker RF John Hagadorn (38-6.3) had 2 hits with a double and a walk, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs. 3B George Heubner (36-5.2) had 2 hits with a double, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs.

Chicago (1) at St. Louis (4): Jimmy Richards (25-0.9) (18-29) over Pony Stanley (25-6.2) (26-18). Richards allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBIs.

Kansas City (2) at Milwaukee (9): Zachary Buchanan (27-4.0) (27-19) over Piggy Lambert (24-8.2) (20-17). Buchanan allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. SS Al Blanchette (23-7.7) had 4 hits with a triple and 2 RBIs. Rookie CF Ed Sudduth (25-4.4) had 2 hits with a double and a walk, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs. RF Ted Steeves (26-4.2) hit his league-leading 8th home run of the season. He again has a 2-home run lead.
