Yet another meatball pitcher we've had a rough time against. We've only faced him once and beat him, but only got 5 hits.
Won - 17 to 1
Payback for whacking Frazier! And all the meatball pitchers who have frustrated us!
Everyone in the lineup scored a run.
Niedermeyer allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. At bat, he had 2 hits and a walk, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Giddens gave us 17 hits, 6 walks and struck out 1.
We made 1 error and Indianapolis made 6.
2B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had 4 hits with a triple, stole a base, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) had a hit, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) had 2 hits and 2 walks, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. 3B Jesse Flanders (28-5.4) went hitless, but walked twice and scored 3 runs. He was the only batter to not get an RBI. C Cliff Robinson (30-6.1) had 2 hits with a double and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. LF Al Lewis (23-9.1) had 4 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBIs. SS Ed Engelhardt (23-5.0) had a hit, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Liberty League:
Boston (0) at New York (1): Tom McWilliams (27-4.3) (2-8) over Freddy Wood (32-6.3) (6-7). McWilliams allowed 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. Wood allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. He has lost 5 in a row. CF Cinders Bradley (25-7.1) had 3 hits with a double and scored the only run of the game.
Louisville (0) at Cincinnati (8): Charlie Branham (28-4.2) (21-16) over William McLeod (29-5.6) (16-21). Branham allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 2. McLeod allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5. Louisville made 6 errors. McLeod has lost 5 in a row.
Pittsburgh (10) at Cleveland (5): Joe Peters (32-4.9) (10-9) over Willard Clapp (26-4.3) (8-18). Peters allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 11. 2B Al Steel (28-7.0) hit his 2nd home run of the year. LF Billy Galloway (27-5.3) hit his 4th. SS Jim Ware (34-5.6) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the season and 4 RBIs.
Grand National Association:
Chicago (4) at Providence (3) Game 1: Skyrocket Howard (23-5.4) (8-8) over Ed Wison (27-7.3) (11-13). Chicago scored a run in the top of the 9th to take the lead. Howard allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 9. Wison allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. LF Tommy Casale (28-3.7) hit 2 doubles, stole a base and scored 2 runs, including the go ahead run in the top of the 9th.
Chicago (8) at Providence (9) Game 2: Tom Ashton (24-5.2) (24-17) over Pat Seguin (24-4.4) (22-17). 3B Ed Knight (25-5.1) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. 1B Ren Mason (22-6.9) had 4 hits with 2 doubles, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. CF Tom Herold (23-6.4) hit 2 doubles and a triple, scored a run and had an RBI.
