Pete Bucolo (40-4.1) needs to leave the team for treatment of his injury and rather than taking a leave of absence, he has decided to step down. He said the team had not responded to his leadership this year as in years past and that maybe a new man at the helm would turn the team around.

Grand National Association:
Chicago (9) at Providence (5): Skyrocket Howard (23-5.4) (7-8) over Ed Wison (27-7.3) (11-12). SS Bob Robertson (25-4.1) had 4 hits with 2 triples, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. For the Grays, RF John Froom (40-6.2), in only his 3rd game of the season due to injury, hit a home run.

Kansas City (6) at Brooklyn (0): Piggy Lambert (24-8.2) (13-12) over William David (25-3.6) (19-18). Lambert allowed 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7.

St. Louis (5) at Omaha (4): Ed Copeland (22-6.0) (4-9) over Tom Lee (30-6.0) (14-17). St. Louis scored 3 times in the top of the 9th to take the lead. Copeland allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 4.

Washington (3) at Milwaukee (1): Dad Marshall (29-4.4) (4-4) over Kid Henze (24-5.2) (5-5). Marshall only went 5 innings, allowed no runs, 2 hits, no walks and struck out 3. He twisted his ankle, but should be fine and fully fit in a day or two. Pop Yurkovich (36-5.6) pitched the final 4 innings.
