Cleveland Spiders (41-53 .436 23 GB in 6th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (63-29 .685 in 1st place)

Artie Boucher, Clev. (25-6.1) (R 9-19 4.70 10.6-2.9-2.7 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Dave Frazier, Det. (28-5.7) (L 18-8 2.02 8.4-1.0-3.1)

Boucher is another of those meatball pitchers that everyone else humiliates, but we can't hit. We are 2-2 against him on the season and the last time we faced him he held us to 6 hits and both times we beat him we only got 7 hits.

Won - 8 to 6

If you are thinking that by the score it looks like we finally gave Boucher a thrashing, you'd be mistaken. We scored 7 of our runs in the 3rd inning when we only had 3 hits. Frazier shut them out through 6 innings and then they scored in each of the last 3 frames.

Frazier allowed 9 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. At bat, he had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI.

Boucher gave us 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5. He only allowed 1 earned run. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run.

We made 3 errors and Cleveland made 4.

2B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had a hit, stole a base, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. 3B Jesse Flanders (28-5.4) hit a double and had 2 RBIs. C Cliff Robinson (30-6.1) hit a double, drew a walk and scored a run. LF Al Lewis (23-9.1) had 2 hits with a double and a walk and scored a run. SS Ed Engelhardt (23-5.0) hit a triple and scored 2 runs, but made all 3 of our errors. RF Hi Bowman (24-5.5) did not have a hit or draw a walk, but scored a run and had 2 RBIs.
