We are 2-3 against Branham on the season, but pounded him pretty good last time we met.
Won - 5 to 2
Frazier shut them out until our 1st 2 errors of the game in the 9th spoiled it.
Frazier allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit and was beaned by a pitch and scored 2 runs.
Branham gave us 10 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. At bat, he had 2 hits.
We made 2 errors and Cincinnati made 1.
2B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had 3 hits and a walk, stole a base and scored 2 runs. His hitting streak is now at 12 games. This streak started the game after he ended a 14 game streak, so he has hit safely in 26 of his last 27 games. And in the game he did not get a hit, he walked 3 times. During this 12 game streak he is batting 23 for 48 (.479). CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) hit a double, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) had a hit and a walk and 2 RBIs.
For the Reds, ex-Wolverine LF Willie Kirby (26-2.1) hurt his shoulder making a catch and will miss a couple of weeks.
Liberty League:
Cleveland (6) at Louisville (0): Lou Townley (26-3.4) (19-14) over Jumbo Hoops (23-6.5) (10-7). Townley allowed 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7. LF Ace Trimmell (30-5.0) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Indianapolis (7) at New York (3): Sal DeVaux (33-3.5) (11-20) over Jack Roberts (36-6.1) (7-13). DeVaux allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4.
Pittsburgh (4) at Boston (5): Dave Wolf (25-4.7) (13-19) over Whitey Mathews (25-4.1) (15-15). 2B Mike Stables (32-7.1) hit his 6th home run of the season.
Grand National Association:
St. Louis (5) at Providence (6): Ed Hodges (28-3.2) (13-11) over Jimmy Richards (25-0.9) (12-17). The Grays won the game in the bottom of the 9th thanks to a 2-out error.
Chicago (9) at Brooklyn (10): Tom Homer (24-5.0) (5-5) over Pony Stanley (25-6.2) (18-9). Rookie 2B Willie Snyder (22-7.5) had 3 hits with a double and 3 RBIs. For the Colts, CF Ike Allen (34-5.3) wrenched his back and will miss 3 weeks. 3B Frank Seccombe (27-5.2) in his 1st game in the majors since 1886, had a hit and 2 walks and scored 2 runs, but strained his hip (He's 27, right? Not 72?) and will miss 5 to 6 weeks.
Kansas City (7) at Omaha (6) in 10 innings: Piggy Lambert (24-8.2) (10-10) over Tom Lee (30-6.0) (13-14) in relief of Skyrocket Rice (23-5.2). LF Lou Baggett (26-4.2) had 3 hits with a triple, stole 2 bases, scored 4 runs, including the go-ahead tun in the 10th, and had an RBI. CF Heinie Ashmore (23-6.0) had 2 hits with a double and 5 RBIs. His single knocked in Baggett in the 10th.
Washington (5) at Milwaukee (6): Zachary Buchanan (27-4.0) (19-14) over Ed Bush (28-5.3) (15-19). 2B Lou Bohus (28-5.4) had 2 hits and a walk, stole 4 bases and scored 4 runs. LF Tom Kelly (25-5.3) pulled a muscle and will miss about 6 weeks.
