Cleveland Spiders (28-40 .412 16.5 GB in 7th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (44-23 .657 in 1st place)

Artie Boucher, Clev. (25-6.1) (R 6-16 4.78 11.0-2.6-2.5 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Cinders Holmes, Det. (22-5.1) (R 1-0 1.00 6.0-1.0-3.0)

Won - 7 to 6 in 10 innings

CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) drew a bases-loaded walk to win the game.

In 10 innings, Holmes allowed 13 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.

We had 11 hits, 6 walks and struck out 5 times.

We made 5 errors and Cleveland made 4.

2B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had 2 hits and a walk, stole a base and scored a run. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) had 4 hits, but no runs or RBIs. LF Al Lewis (22-9.1) had 2 hits with a triple, stole a base, scored2 runs and had an RBI.

For the Spiders, SS Cowboy Gray (26-7.8) had 4 hits, stole 3 bases, scored a run and had an RBI.

2B Reddy Daley (24-6.8) is on a train back to Syracuse. That was a wasted 1st pick, I think. He will be traded in the off-season. Jake Potter (33-6.8) will come back so he can sit on the bench without me having to worry about giving him playing time.

Liberty League:

New York (4) at Louisville (3) in 10 innings: Tom McDowell (24-8.0) (11-9) over Jumbo Hoops (23-6.5) (7-5). LF Bert Gellis (27-5.5) hit a bases-loaded triple. 3B Ed Glass (29-4.5) will miss 2 to 3 weeks with a sore wrist.

Boston (1) at Cincinnati (3): Ed Jones (23-5.0) (1-0) in his major league debut over Freddy Wood (32-6.3) (4-2). Jones allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. Rookie 3B Wilhelm Weinstein (28-4.7) had 3 hits with a double and an RBI. For Boston, 3B Highball Baxter (22-5.7) had 3 of Boston's 4 hits with a double and an RBI.

Pittsburgh (1) at Indianapolis (3): Levi Giddens (36-4.8) (3-9) over Joe Peters (32-4.9) (5-6). Giddens allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 2. Peters allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and struck out 7. He has only had 1 start that could be considered less than good. CF Ed Slonim (25-8.5) had 3 hits and scored a run.

Grand National Association:

Providence (2) at Brooklyn (11): Al Green (25-3.8) (13-16) over Tom Ashton (24-5.2) (16-13). Green allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. SS Charlie Smith (30-5.6) had 4 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.

St. Louis (4) at Chicago (3): Ed Copeland (22-6.0) (1-5) over Pat Seguin (24-4.4) (18-12). Chicago out-hit St. Louis 13 to 4. The Colts made 4 errors and Seguin only walked 1. For the Colts, SS Stub Nelson (26-5.6) had 3 hits with a triple and an RBI.

Kansas City (7) at Milwaukee (6): Al McClaughry (24-5.6) (9-6) over Zachary Buchanan (27-4.0) (15-13). For the Brewers, RF Ted Steeves (26-4.2) hit his 5th home run of the season.
