Willard Clapp, Clev. (26-4.3) (R 5-9 3.58 9.3-3.3-4.7 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Wild Bill Perrell, Det. (24-7.3) (R 1-1 2.50 4.5-2.0-3.0)

We are 1-0 against Clapp, but only won 5 to 4.

Won - 9 to 0

Perrell allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 2. In 3 starts this year, he has not allowed more than 5 hits in any of them.

Clapp gave us 9 hits, 5 walks and struck out 1. He only allowed 1 earned run.

We made 4 errors and Cleveland made 6.

2B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) ended his hitting streak at 14 games, but it hardly seems fair as he walked 3 times. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) had 2 hits and scored 3 times. RF Ben Smith (29-6.7) hit 2 doubles, drew a walk, scored a run and had an RBI. C Cliff Robinson (30-6.1) had 2 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. 3B Jesse Flanders (28-5.4) had a hit and a walk and 3 RBIs.

Liberty League:
New York (1) at Louisville (3): Mert Gross (30-5.8) (2-6) over Jack Roberts (36-6.1) (7-7). Gross allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 5. At bat, he had 3 hits and an RBI. Roberts allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 2.

Boston (2) at Cincinnati (7): Charlie Branham (28-4.2) (14-11) over Dave Wolf (25-4.7) (10-17). Branham allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4. C Dave Passick (25-4.4) had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. 1B Jim Lagana (32-6.6) hit his 3rd home run of the season.

Pittsburgh (3) at Indianapolis (6): Sal DeVaux (33-3.5) (10-16) over Whitey Mathews (25-4.1) (13-12). DeVaux allowed 4 hits, 4 walks and struck out 1. SS Bill Lawson (31-6.9) hit 2 doubles and drew a walk, scored a run and had an RBI. For the Puddlers, C Wilson Wendling (27-4.1) hit a home run.

Grand National Association:
Kansas City (5) at St. Louis (8): Fred Barrow (36-4.7) (5-12) over Dan Butler (31-4.7) (5-11). 1B Ed Zarnoch (27-4.1) had 3 hits, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had an RBI.

Washington (3) at Omaha (11): Skyrocket Rice (23-5.2) (14-6) over Pop Yurkovich (36-5.6) (10-15). Rice allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 9. SS Al Shaffer (27-5.6) had 3 hits and scored 2 runs.
