Price is now on a train to Syracuse and you can forget about him He will not be back in Detroit even if he never allows another run in his life. Bill Perrell (24-7.3) will be here tomorrow.
Price allowed 10 hits, 1 walk and struck out no one. He also beaned Highball Baxter (22-5.7) twice.
Wolf gave us 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4.
We made 2 errors and Boston made 3.
3B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had an infield single to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) hit his 2nd home run of the season. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) hit a triple and scored a run. RF Ben Smith (29-6.7) had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had an RBI.
For the Shamrocks, C Frank Douglas (33-5.8) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the season, an inside-the-park affair. He will miss a month with a fractured thumb, however. SS Tug Crane (28-6.5) had 3 hits and scored a run.
Liberty League:
Cincinnati (6) at Indianapolis (1): Charlie Branham (28-4.2) (13-11) over Sal DeVaux (33-3.5) (9-16). Branham allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 3. LF Dad Lee (26-5.9) had 3 hits and scored a run.
Louisville (2) at Pittsburgh (4): Whitey Mathews (25-4.1) (13-11) over Mert Gross (30-5.8) (1-6). Mathews allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7. Gross allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. The Bourbons made 7 errors.
New York (3) at Cleveland (4): Willard Clapp (26-4.3) (5-9) over Jack Roberts (36-6.1) (7-6). They game was tied at 3 going into the bottom of the 9th. After Roberts retired the 1st two hitters, 3 straight errors ended the game. Clapp allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 8. At bat, he hit a double and scored a run. Roberts allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 4.
Grand National Association:
Washington (2) at Providence (6): Tom Ashton (24-5.2) (16-12) over Pop Yurkovich (36-5.6) (10-14). Ashton allowed 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. Yurkovich hit a home run. For the Monuments, SS John Ingling (28-4.6) will miss a week or two with a sore shoulder.
Brooklyn (0) at Omaha (3): Lee Sprague (28-3.5) (16-3) over Al Green (25-3.8) (12-16). Sprague allowed 1 hit (in the 7th), 1 walk and struck out 2. Green allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4.
Kansas City (13) at St. Louis (3): Piggy Lambert (24-8.2) (6-8) over Jimmy Richards (25-0.9) (11-10). Lambert allowed 5 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. LF Lou Baggett (26-4.2) had 3 hits, stole 2 bases, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. 2B Jim McCarthy (27-7.5) cracked a rib and will miss 3 to 4 weeks.
Chicago (6) at Milwaukee (5): Pat Seguin (24-4.4) (18-11) over Zachary Buchanan (27-4.0) (15-12). RF Candy Simpson (29-6.8) had 3 hits with a triple, stole a base, scored a run and had 3 RBIs.
