Detroit Wolverines (34-18 .654 1st place in the Liberty League) at
Indianapolis Hoosiers (21-30 .412 12.5 GB in 8th (last) place)

Al Rice, Det. (23-7.6) (R 17-5 2.14 7.6-1.0-5.2 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Jimmy Euler, Ind. (27-5.5) (R 7-3 2.09 7.2-1.9-3.2)

We are 2-2 against Euler on the season, but he has pitched well every time.

Lost - 3 to 2 in 10 innings

The only extra-base hit of the whole game was hit by P Jimmy Euler to lead off the 10th. 2B Kid Stevens (26-8.4), who was 6 for 60 lifetime against Rice coming into this game, knocked Euler home with his 2nd hit of the day to win the game.

Rice allowed 10 hits, no walks and struck out 8.

Euler gave us 8 hits, 4 walks and struck out 3.

We made 4 errors and Indianapolis made 2.

3B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had 2 hits and 2 walks and stole 2 bases, but only scored 1 run because the 3 guys after him in the lineup went 1 for 14. C Cliff Robinson (30-6.1) had 2 hits and a walk, but no runs or RBIs. 2B Pat Dunbar (26-8.3) had 2 hits and an RBI.

I was mistaken saying that this was to be a 4 game series; it is only 3. We have an off day tomorrow as we head back to Detroit to face the Gothams in a 4th of July double-header.

Cleveland (0) at Pittsburgh (1): Tom Lilly (28-6.4) (16-6) over Lou Townley (26-3.4) (15-8). Lilly allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. Townley allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. C Wilson Wendling (27-4.1) had 2 hits with a triple and scored the only run of the game.
