The 1st time we met McSherry, we won 5 to 4 in 10 innings.
Won - 6 to 1
LF Al Lewis (22-9.1) and 2B Pat Dunbar (26-8.3), who both his home runs yesterday, both hit home runs again today!
Rice allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 7. For the 5th straight game, out pitchers did not walk anyone!
McSherry gave us 9 hits, 4 walks and struck out 1. At bat, he had a double.
We made 2 errors and Indianapolis made 3.
3B Ed Aldrich (24-6.8) had 2 hits. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) hit a triple and scored a run. 2B Pat Dunbar hit 2 home runs, one out of the park and one inside. He now has 3 home runs on the season and 3 in the last 2 days. LF Al Lewis had 2 hits with a walk and his 3rd home run of the year.
For the Hoosiers, LF Hick Fahl (31-5.3) hit his 3rd home run of the year in the 9th inning to spoil the shutout.
Liberty League:
Pittsburgh (4) at Cleveland (2): Joe Peters (32-4.9) (4-4) over Willard Clapp (26-4.3) (3-6). Pittsburgh scored all of their runs in the 8th and 9th innings. Peters allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7.
New York (16) at Boston (6): Miah Turner (27-5.3) (9-8) over Dave Wolf (25-4.7) (7-12). Turner allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 7, but his Gothams made 9 errors. LF Bert Gellis (27-5.5) had 4 hits with a double and a triple, stole a base, scored 5 runs and had 3 RBIs. 2B Pussy Wise (26-6.8) had 4 hits with his 2nd home run of the season, scored 3 runs and had 6 RBIs. SS Dave Hay (26-5.7) had 4 hits and a walk, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. For the Shamrocks, 1B Bill Gordon (31-3.7) hit his 5th home run of the year. C Hub West (34-6.7) hit his 6th.
Grand National Association:
Brooklyn (3) at Providence (4): Ed Wison (27-7.3) (6-7) over William David (25-3.6) (11-8). Wison allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. David allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5.
Omaha (6) at Washington (5): Skyrocket Rice (23-5.2) (9-5) over Pop Yurkovich (36-5.6) (8-9). Yurkovich has lost 5 out of his last 6.
St. Louis (6) at Kansas City (13): Lew Burnett (27-4.5) (10-7) over Jimmy Richards (25-0.9) (7-6). SS Bev Bradley (23-6.2) had 2 hits and 2 walks, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Chicago (1) at Milwaukee (4): Zachary Buchanan (27-4.0) (13-7) over Pony Stanley (25-6.2) (10-6). Buchanan allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 7. Stanley allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. RF Ed Capps (25-6.1) hit his 3rd home run of the year. 3B Dave Gray (27-4.9) hit a double and a home run, drew a walk and scored 2 runs. For the Colts, 2B Stub Nelson (26-5.6) hit 2 triples and had an RBI.
