Liberty League:
Cleveland (10) at Boston (9) Game 1: Lou Townley (26-3.4) (13-6) over William Little (27-6.0) (11-7). 3B Charlie Taylor (33-5.2) had 4 hits, scored a run and had an RBI. For the Shamrocks, LF Charlie Warner (34-9.2) hit his 7th home run of the season and C Hub West (34-6.7) hit his 5th.
Cleveland (2) at Boston (6) Game 2: Freddy Wood (32-6.3) (1-0) over Willard Clapp (25-4.3) (3-5). In his 1st start with Boston since the trade, Wood had to leave in the 6th inning with a sore back. He should be okay in about 4 days. CF Studs Galloway (24-5.1), who just recently set the all-time home run record with 3 in 1 game, sprained his knee and will miss the next month.
Louisville (3) at Cincinnati (2): William McLeod (29-5.6) (10-8) over John Stevens (31-8.2) (7-11). McLeod allowed 3 hits, 3 walks and struck out 4. Stevens has lost 6 in a row.
Grand National Association:
Omaha (8) at Providence (6): Skyrocket Rice (23-5.2) (8-4) in relief of Tom Lee (30-6.0) over Tom Ashton (24-5.2) (9-9). Omaha scored 5 times in the top of the 9th to take the lead. Lee had to leave in the 8th inning with soreness in his hand. He probably can still pitch, but will be hampered for a week or so. Rice only face 1 batter to get the win. Rookie 1B Tom Durkin (22-6.6) had 4 hits, including a bases-loaded triple in the 9th, stole a base, scored a run and had 5 RBIs.
