The fans of the Baltimore Orioles were disappointed when it was confirmed that their favourites fell out of contention for the play offs. They were also disappointed with the form that the team saw during August. The team managed to get a record of 12-15 during the month. This has seen the team remain in 6th place in the AL table, 34.5 games behind the leaders.

It was not good news for the Orioles on the injury front in August. They lost 3 players during the month. The first to go was Catcher King Kelly who strained an Oblique and will miss between 5 and 6 weeks. The next to go was Starting Pitcher Toad Ramsey. Ramsey picked up a sore wrist that will see him sidelined for between 2 and 3 weeks. The final injury was to Left Fielder Tip O'Neill. O'Neill sprained an ankle and will miss between 2 and 3 weeks of the season.
Catcher Chief Zimmer had an excellent month in August. He played 22 games and managed 28 hits from 66 at bats. He scored 12 runs with 19 RBI's for an average of .424.
