Trade! One day before the deadline Milwaukee sent P Freddy Wood (32-6.3) to Boston for 3 young arms: Garrett Carpenter (23-4.5), Tom Ophus (23-5.2) and Cupid Tyson (24-8.6). Boston released Wood 2 years ago and now gives up 3 prospects to get him back. Before the season started Carpenter was rated as the #4 prospect in the Liberty League, Ophus was #39 and Tyson was #54.

Detroit Wolverines (25-15 .625 0 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
New York Gothams (17-23 .425 8 GB tied for 6th place)

Al Rice, Det. (23-7.6) (R 13-4 2.14 7.6-1.1-5.6 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Miah Turner, N.Y. (27-5.3) (R 7-7 2.18 7.0-1.4-4.5)

We are 1-1 against Turner so far.

Won - 12 to 3

Rice allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit, scored a run and and an RBI.

We had 12 hits and no walks and struck out 7 times.

We made 4 errors and New York made 9.

CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) had a hit, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. 1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) had 2 hits with a double, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. So far in June, he is batting .349 for the month. Hopefully, he is finally back to being the Hit King (in spirit, at least, if not in actuality anymore). RF Ben Smith (28-6.7) hit a double, scored a run and had an RBI. C Jimmy Babcock (31-6.9) had 3 hits with a double, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. SS Ed Engelhardt (23-5.0) had a hit, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. 2b Pat Dunbar (26-8.3) had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.

For the Gothams, C Jim Martin (26-5.0) hit a home run.

Since Pittsburgh did not play today, we moved back into 1st place!
