New York Gothams (11-11 .500 2.5 GB tied for 5th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (14-10 .583 0.5 GB in 2nd place)

Tom McWilliams, N.Y. (26-4.3) (R 0-1 13.50 19.1-4.5-0.0 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Jiggs Niedermeyer, Det. (24-5.8) (R 1-2 3.91 7.8-2.0-2.3)

This will be McWilliams' 2nd career start. His 1st was at Seventh Street Park in Indianapolis where he lost 14 to 4. So I expect him to mow us down handily.

Won - 6 to 1

Niedermeyer, looking much sharper than last time, allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 8.

McWilliams gave us 11 hits, 3 walks and struck out 1.

We made 4 errors and New York made 2. New York has only made 4 errors in the whole series so far.

Rookie CF Ren Dunbar (24-6.8) had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI. 3B Dave Odekirk (23-6.5) hit a triple and a home run and had 2 RBIs. SS Ducky Foster (23-9.0) had a hit and a walk, stole a base and scored 2 runs. 2B Jake Potter (33-6.8) had 3 hits with a double, scored a run and had an RBI. The Hitless Twins (Smith and Cowan) each had a hit, Cowan's not leaving the dirt of the infield.

For the Gothams, LF Fred James (24-5.3) hit his 3rd home run of the season.

Liberty League:

Boston (6) at Indianapolis (8): Frank McSherry (32-4.1) (2-4) over Kid Mathewson (21-6.4) (4-2). CF Ed Slonim (25-8.5) hit 2 doubles, drew a walk, stole 2 bases, scored a run and had an RBI. For the Shamrocks, LF Charlie Warner (34-9.2) had 3 hits with a triple and his 2nd home run of the year, drew a walk and had 2 RBIs.

Cincinnati (3) at Pittsburgh (0): William Butina (25-5.6) (3-3) over Joe Peters (32-4.9) (1-3). Butina allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. At bat, he had 2 hits with a triple, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. Peters, in his 2nd tough loss of the year, allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and struck out 9. Grand National Association:
Kansas City (1) at Brooklyn (2) in 13 innings: William David (25-3.6) (5-4) over Lew Burnett (27-4.5) (5-5). In 13 innings, David allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. Burnett allowed 7 hits, 5 walks and struck out 2. LF Kid Orr (29-5.6) ended the game with his only hit of the day.

LeFevre, normally a catcher, pitched 1 hitless inning, allowing a walk, to get the win. Omaha scored 6 times in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game. For the Brewers, 1B Tom Kelly (24-5.3) had 4 hits with a double, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. LF Ted Steeves (26-4.2) fractured his foot and will miss 4 to 5 weeks.
