The Pittsburgh Puddlers announced today that IF Dan White (28-5.1) was retiring because he was not recovering from the torn stomach muscle he suffered in Spring Training. White was one of the most exciting players in baseball. He led the Liberty League in hits, triples and stolen bases last year and the GNA in hits, runs and stolen bases the season before that. He won 2 Gold Gloves at third base and a Silver Slugger award there in the GNA. He is the co-owner of the major league record for most steals in a game with 5. He stole 361 bases and had 111 triples in his 6 seasons in the major leagues.
