That's been reported before from a person running Chrome - I haven't been able to replicate the issue to troubleshoot it, though.

You have to actually use the game to do that. I actually have a league set up for just that sort of thing - only 2 teams so it loads fairly quickly.

You should be able to just select the image you want to edit and click the "Remove Border" button and it will attempt to remove the black (or whatever color) box.
