No one would give me anyone useful for Sam Boullion (28-4.8), so he is safely tucked away on Syracuse's bench. Who knows? Maybe he can rehabilitate himself. If not, he will be a free agent come December. He was the 1st player I ever drafted after taking the Detroit job and at times he showed some promise, but he has never lived up to being a 1st round pick.

Cincinnati Reds (9-9 .500 2.5 GB tied for 4th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (12-7 .632 1st place)

William Butina, Cin. (25-5.6) (R 2-2 3.05 8.0-2.8-1.9 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Dave Frazier, Det. (28-5.7) (L 4-3 2.40 9.6-0.6-2.0)

Won - 5 to 3

Frazier allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3.

Butina gave us 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2.

We made 3 errors and Cincinnati made 4.

1B Sam Cowan (32-5.1) hit a triple, drew a walk and scored a run. RF Hi Bowman (24-5.5) had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI and threw out a runner at 3rd. He'll keep playing until he quits hitting. SS Ducky Foster (23-9.0) had 3 hits, stole 3 bases, scored a run and had an RBI.

P Jiggs Niedermeyer (24-5.8) is eligible to come off the Disabled List, so P Wild Bill Perrell (24-7.3) is on his way back to Syracuse, but not because he deserves to be there. He gave us 2 good outings. Only 9 hits allowed in 18 innings! If Niedermeyer falters, Perrell will be welcomed back.

Boston (3) at Cleveland (0): Kid Mathewson (21-6.4) (3-1) over Willard Clapp (25-4.3) (1-2). Mathewson allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 6. Clapp allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 6. C Frank Douglas (33-5.8) hit a home run.
