Former Braves and Angels pitcher Tommy Hanson, who seven years ago was widely considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, passed away shortly before midnight from what was described as "catastrophic organ failure." He was 29.
Known to Braves fans as "Big Red," dealt to Angels for Jordan Walden following the 2012 season. Pitched one season for the Angels, then was a farmhand for White Sox and Giants.
