The Beneaters continued to play average ball during May. This to the fans is good though as it is an improvement on the past couple of seasons poor form. The team put together a 13-14 record and also moved up a place in the NL table to 4th, to sit 7 games behind the leaders.

Right Fielder Larry Twitchel is not normally the player you would expect to be the star of the show. His May was an indicator that perhaps he has started to find his feet in the big time. He picked up 40 hits from 125 at bats in 27 games. He scored 22 runs with 17 RBI's for an average of .320.
