The fans of the Alleghenys are contented with the way the season has started. While the record of 14-14 for the month could be better the position of third place in the NL table has them pleased. The team trail the leaders by 4 games after the first month of the season.

2-1 at home to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms
2-2 at home to the Chicago White Stockings
2-1 on the road to the Boston Beaneaters

1-3 at home to the St Louis Browns
2-1 on the road to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms
went 0-2 to start a home series against the New York Giants

There were a lot of changes to the squad during the first month of play.

Firstly they lost Short Stop Irv Ray for 2 weeks of the month with a herniated disc before they also lost Third Baseman Ri Jones for 6 weeks with a fractured wrist.

The team also made changes by swapping 25 year old Short Stop Al Myers with the Chicago White Stockings for 27 year old Third Baseman Jumbo Davis.

The team also claimed 2 new players via waivers. They picked up Left Fielder Walt Goldsby from the Philadelphia Quakers and Right Fielder Frank Whitney from the Philadelphia Athletics.

Short Stop Paul Radford put down a marker for the season during April. He picked up 36 hits from 103 at bats in 27 starts. This earned him 22 runs with 22 RBI's for an average of .353
