One day after shutting down the Rays, Jake Odorizzi returned the favor by blanking Boston with a CG, 10 k's, 3 hit shutout. Game score 90. Boston starter Matt Barnes lasted only 3 innings before getting removed from the game. Barnes gave up 5 runs (earned) on 8 hits, struck-out 3 and walked 3. Game score 21. On a bright note, Samardzija came in and pitched 5 innings of 1 hit ball - looking great and setting himself up for more appearances. Not much on the offensive side of things for Boston, with Swihart (2 for 4) being a bright spot early in the season.
