Easy Edmonton rebuild
I started with Oilers because I wanted to find out how long/difficult it will be to make them good and contenders. Granted I'm only done with one regular season (playoffs to come) but it was to easy in my mind to make this team good. At the start of the game I made some trades that I was delighted with:
1. Cory Schneider (NJ) for Ryan Nugent Hopkins (straight swaap)
2. Roman Josi (Nsh) for Mark Fayne, rights to William Lagesson, 2016 1. rounder and 2016 2. rounder
3. Justin Faulk (Car) for Cam Talbot, Griffin Reinhart, Andrew Ference and 2017 1. rounder
Just after the season started:
4. Erik Gudbranson (traded befor to NJ) for Justin Schulz and 5. rounder in 2016
At the trade deadline:
5. Andrew Ladd (Wpg) for Luke Gazdic, Linden Vey (claimed from waivers in september), Lauri Korpikoski, Anders Nillson and 2016 3. rounder
After the Ladd trade the season really took off and I finished with 14-4-0 and won the division with 46-33-3 for 95 points and 3. place in conference. Funny thing here was that all 7 teams in Central finished in top 9 in the conference and because division rules 10. placed Calgary got in with only 79 points.
Connor McDavid was everything and more in his rookie season with 35+54=89 points in 81 games, Second line centre Draisaitl finished with 21+44=65, while T. Hall 23+36=59 in 61 games. Roman Josi was fantastic with 17+38=55 as was Justin Faulk 15+36=51. Cory Schneider did struggle for a long time but finished strong with 33-20-1 2.62GA and .911%.
I will soon start playoffs and 1. round match up is with Dallas who had 94 points while LA (2. in Pacific) got Calgary who like I said only had 79 points.
I don't know what the future holds but in my mind it was kind of too easy to get players that I got and the price(s) wasn't too steep.
