While the teams overall performance struggled during August one player had an excellent month. That player was pitcher Ice Box Chamberlin. Chamberlin managed to win 8 out of his 9 games. He pitched 80 innings to give up 72 hits and 25 earned runs for an ERA of 2.81. This earned him the AL Pitcher of the Month award.
