There was good news for the Red Stockings from the treatment room in august as they managed to get Pitcher Cannonball Titcomb fit again towards the end of the month.
The teams star during August was the youngster Hugh Duffy. Duffy managed to pick up 33 hits from 107 at bats during his 26 games. He scored 18 runs with 14 RBI's for an average of .308. This earned him the NL Rookie of the Month award.
