The example I posted had many more candidates for the losing team than the one selected, none of which rated a 2nd star. Also, the player who scored 2 goals on the winning side did not get a star.

In another game, the losing goalie made 50 saves in a 4-2 loss (last goal an empty netter). This deserves a star over a guy with only an assist.

I think a high GR should play a role in the stars, though not an overwhelming one.
