Cincinnati Reds (65-49 .570 7 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (75-45 .625 in 1st Place)

Charlie Branham, Cin. (27-4.2) (R 34-25 4.20 10.4-2.3-2.2 H-BB-K/9) vs. Al Rice, Det. (23-7.6) (R 13-12 3.24 9.6-1.6-3.4).

We are 4-3 against Branham this season.

Won - 4 to 3

Rice allowed 5 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. At bat, he had a hit.

Branham gave us 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3.

We made 2 errors and Cincinnati made 4.

3B Sam Boullion (27-4.8) had 2 hits and scored a run, but also got caught stealing and grounded into a double-play. SS Tom Nelson (21-6.2) had 2 hits with a double, stole a base and had an RBI, but sprained his elbow and will take about 2 weeks to heal. 1B Jocko Cole (26-6.1) had a hit and scored 2 runs. C Tom Trever (25-4.7) had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

For the Reds, 1B Willie Burton (32-8.5) hit his 9th home run of the season.

Liberty League:
Cleveland (10) at New York (11): Miah Turner (26-5.3) (29-15) over Ed Pedersen (25-5.1) (24-35). The Gothams scored 8 times in the 8th inning.

Indianapolis (5) at Pittsburgh (3): Jimmy Euler (26-5.5) (16-20) over Whitey Mathews (24-4.1) (24-26). Euler allowed 4 hits, no walks and struck out 1. The Hoosiers made 7 errors.

Boston (10) at Louisville (11) in 10 innings: William McLeod (28-5.6) (29-19) over William Little (27-6.0) (25-23). The winning run scored on a 2-out passed ball. For the Red Caps, LF Charlie Warner (33-9.2) had 2 hits and 2 walks, stole a base, scored 4 runs and had 2 RBIs. RF Dan Abrams (29-5.1) hit his 7th home run of the year.

Grand National Association:
Baltimore (8) at Providence (4): Frank McSherry (32-4.1) (11-12) over Ed Hodges (27-3.2) (17-31). RF Sol Renaud (31-5.7) pulled a muscle and is done for the rest of the season.

Omaha (1) at Brooklyn (4): William David (24-3.6) (15-10) over Tom Lee (29-6.0) (24-19). David allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 4. Lee allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 1.

St. Louis (7) at Milwaukee (6): Ted Ryther (33-4.3) (29-24) over Freddy Wood (31-6.3) (25-27). LF Biff Place (26-5.4) had 2 hits with a triple and 4 RBIs.

Chicago (5) at Kansas City (6) in 10 innings: Al McClaughry (23-5.6) (38-20) over Pony Stanley (24-6.2) (13-13) in relief of Pat Seguin (24-4.4). The Colts scored a run in the top of the 10th, but SS Fred Umbaugh (26-5.4) won the game for the Cowboys with a 2-run single in the bottom half of the inning. It looks like we will be playing the Cowboys in the Championship Series this year. Last year, they finished in last place.
