Today is a bittersweet day as I step down from my role as General Manager of the Norfolk Cavaliers. When I signed on as the Cavaliers GM in 2013 my goal was to win a Championship and build this team up from the bottom. After a rocky innaugural season, we made some changes and took home the title. Every since we have been a team to be reckoned with. More than I have ever expected.
The past 15 seasons have brought us many highs and lows, but both have created many memories. I am leaving Norfolk to take on a new challenge one that I hope will bring me the joy and success which my tenure in Norfolk did. Its hard to leave these players which I watched grow and develop over the seasons, but its the right thing to do and the right time to do so.
It was a tough decision and one I may regret in the future.
I want to think the fans, the players and our owner Bill Parker for trusting me with his franchise. I wish nothing but success for the Cavaliers in the future and I look forward to coming back to Norfolk.
I leave Norfolk after 15 seasons, 1626 wins, 13 playoff appearances, 9 championship appearances, 8 Championship Banners and thousands of memories.
Sincerly,
Tony Luke
GM Norfolk Cavaliers (2013-2027)
