Cleveland Spiders (49-66 .426 7th Place)

Al Rice, Det. (22-7.6) (R 13-11 3.15 9.4-1.6-3.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. Artie Boucher, Clev. (24-6.1) (R 11-15 4.95 11.6-3.2-2.4).

This is only the 2nd time we have faced Boucher. We won 9 to 6 the 1st time.

Lost - 11 to 3

Once again, the 8th inning was our undoing as we made 2 errors and they scored 6 times in the frame.

Rice allowed 14 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2.

Boucher gave us 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.

We made 5 errors and Cleveland made 4.

Liberty League:
Pittsburgh (4) at Louisville (5) in 10 innings: Sammy Berry (27-5.5) (11-13) over Bill Henrichs (28-7.4) (4-7) in relief of Fred Horner (26-3.8). The Puddlers scored a run in the top in the 9th to tie the game and another in the 10th to take the lead, but the Bourbons scored twice in the bottom of the 10th to win. LF Jack Wallace (34-7.5) hit a 2-run home run to end the game, 3rd home run of the season.

Boston (11) at Indianapolis (3): William Little (27-6.0) (25-21) over Sal DeVaux (33-3.5) (17-23). Little allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. Rookie SS Fred Slaughter (26-5.0) hit a home run.

Grand National Association:

Omaha (12) at Providence (6): Tom Lee (29-6.0) (24-18) over Ed Hodges (27-3.2) (16-30). Hodges allowed 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 2. He is 6-2 in his last 10 starts. For the Gladiators, SS Charlie Smith (29-5.6) hit a home run.

Baltimore (17) at Brooklyn (1): Frank McSherry (32-4.1) (10-11) over Hercules Scovil (23-7.1) (0-1) in his major league debut. Baltimore scored 10 times in the 4th inning. Rookie SS William Lowe (24-6.1) had 5 hits, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. 1B Jiggs Farmer (27-4.6) hit his 2nd home run of the season.

Milwaukee (4) at Kansas City (5): Al McClaughry (23-5.6) (37-19) over Freddy Wood (31-6.3) (24-26). Rookie CF Heinie Ashmore (23-6.0) knocked in the winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. McClaughry allowed 9 hits, no walks and struck out 6.
