Their was good news on the injury front for the Americans. They managed to get both Short Stop's Bill White and Hub Collins fit during the month.
They also managed to pick up Right Fielder Orator Shafer via waivers from the Cincinnati Red Stockings.
Even though the teams form was only average their was one bright spark on the mound. The top pitcher during the month was Bill Sweeney. Sweeney started 9 games and picked up 7 wins. He pitched 79 innings to give up 60 hits and 14 earned runs for an ERA of 1.59. These figures earned him the AL Pitcher of the Month award.
