1st May 1888

The Beaneaters fans are delighted with the form their team has shown at the start of the 1888 season. The team picked up 17 wins and 11 losses during April. They have moved into 2nd place in the NL table to trail the leaders by 1 game.

Series Results
2-2 on the road to the St Louis Browns
3-0 at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys
3-0 at home to the New York Giants
2-2 on the road to the Brooklyn Bridegrooms
1-2 at home to the Philadelphia Quakers
1-2 at home to the Cincinnati Red Stockings
4-0 at home to the Chicago White Stockings
1-2 on the road to the New York Giants
lost the first game of a road trip to the Cincinnati Red Stockings

The Beaneaters suffered a blow to their line-up during the month after seeing Centre Fielder Chief Roseman sidelined during the month. He will be missing for 8 weeks with a strained oblique.

While the team has started well the individual performances of the players have not showed quite as well. The star we will highlight this month is pitcher Tony Mullane. Mullane started 9 games and picked up 6 wins. He pitched 82.1 innings to give up 73 hits and 25 earned runs for an ERA of 2.73.
