Bill Henrichs, Pitt. (28-7.4) (L 4-5 3.60 10.4-1.8-3.1 H-BB-K/9) vs. Al Rice, Det. (22-7.6) (R 12-11 3.08 9.5-1.7-3.5).

Won - 9 to 5

Rice allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 1. At bat, he had a hit and an RBI.

We had 12 hits and 1 error. Pittsburgh made 5.

3B Sam Boullion (27-4.8) had 3 hits with a double, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. RF Ben Smith (28-6.7) had 3 hits with a double and his 14th home run of the season and 2 RBIs. 2B Al Shaffer (27-5.6) had a hit, stole a base and scored 2 runs. CF Tom Duncan (22-6.6) hit a double, drew 2 walks, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. C Jack Henderson (27-4.5) had a hit and a walk and scored 2 runs.

For the Puddlers, RF Joe Coffey (31-5.2) hit his 6th home run of the year and C Bumpus Dowdy (37-7.2) hit his 7th. Each of them has hit 4 of their long bombs against Detroit.

Liberty League:
Louisville (2) at New York (6) Game 1: Miah Turner (26-5.3) (28-14) over Sammy Berry (27-5.5) (10-13). Turner allowed 9 hits, 3 walks and struck out 3. C Jim Martin (26-5.0) had 4 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. For the Bourbons, RF John Rodgers (35-4.4) hit his 4th home run of the season.

Louisville (13) at New York (3) Game 2: John Simon (28-6.6) (6-3) over John Allen (29-6.4) (3-6). Simon allowed 10 hits, no walks and struck out 1.

Indianapolis (4) at Cleveland (9): Henry Rawls (33-4.3) (12-15) over Sal DeVaux (33-3.5) (17-22). DeVaux has lost 6 in a row and is 3-11 in his last 14 starts. For the Hoosiers, RF Ed Wakefield (27-5.8) pulled a muscle and likely will not make it back before the season is over.

Grand National Association:

Providence (8) at Brooklyn (2): Ed Hodges (27-3.2) (16-29) over William David (24-3.6) (13-10). Hodges allowed 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 2. He is 6-2 in his last 10 starts. For the Gladiators, SS Charlie Smith (29-5.6) hit a home run.

Omaha (5) at Baltimore (3): Lou Ellard (29-6.3) (9-7) over Frank McSherry (32-4.1) (9-11). Ellard allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. McSherry allowed 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2.

Kansas City (19) at Milwaukee (3): Al McClaughry (23-5.6) (36-19) over Freddy Wood (31-6.3) (24-25). McClaughry allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. 3B Al Sarbacker (27-4.8) had 4 hits with a double and a triple and a walk, stole a base, scored 5 runs and had 3 RBIs. Rookie RF Heinie Ashmore (23-6.0) had a hit, was hit by a pitch, scored 4 runs and had an RBI. Rookie CF Bev Bradley (22-6.2), no relation to New York's rookie CF Cinders Bradley (24-7.1), had 5 hits and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 5 RBIs.

St. Louis (8) at Chicago (9): Pete Rinehart (28-6.2) (17-23) over Ted Ryther (33-4.3) (28-23). Rookie 3B Stub Nelson (25-5.6) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. For the Terriers, Joe Olson (31-6.8) hit a home run.
