The Alleghenys just made their run to late to get into the shake up at the end of the season which has left their fans frustrated. The team had a very good month in August by picking up 17 wins from the 27 games they played. This was good enough to close the gap on the leaders but not enough to keep them in the play off hunt. They are now in 3rd place in the NL table, 5 games behind the leaders.

Starter John Clarkson was the star on the mound this month. He picked up 7 wins in the 9 games he played. He pitched 79.1 innings to give up 79 hits and 18 earned runs for an ERA of 2.04. This earned him the NL Pitcher of the Month for August
