The fans of the Athletics had to struggle through another down month in a season of ups and downs as their favourites again failed in August. The team managed to pick up 11 wins with 16 losses during the month. They are now in joint 4th place in the AL table, 14 games behind the leaders with the pennant gone for another year.

The team had good and bad news on the injury front during August. They saw Centre Fielder Paul Hines return from injury mid month. They lost the services of Short Stop John Richmond for most of the month after he was sidelined for 3weeks with a strained rib cage.

Second Baseman Henry Larkin put up some solid numbers in August. He claimed 41 hits from 117 at bats during his 27 games. He scored 17 runs with 21 RBI's for an average of .350.
