We are in Pittsburgh to begin a 4 game series with manager Jesse Courtney (38-5.1) and his Puddlers today. Originally scheduled for a 3 game series, we will be playing a double-header on Saturday to make up for a rained out game. We are 8-2 against the so far and swept them in 3 games at the end of July to begin our wonderful last home-stand the last time we met. They are 5th in the League in scoring with 6.2 runs per game (Detroit is down to 7th after our last series with 6.0). Pittsburgh's Recreation Park, as opposed to our Recreation Park, is the toughest place to hit in the Liberty League and the toughest place to try to hit a home run. To give an impression of the toughness of the park, 2B Dan Smith (27-5.1), who is batting .338 on the season is hitting .295 at home and .377 on the road. P Whitey Mathews is 6-10 with a 2.09 ERA at home, but 10-9 with a 4.60 ERA on the road.
