Pittsburgh (7) at Louisville (8) in 12 innings: William McLeod (28-5.6) (20-13) over Bill Henrichs (28-7.4) (2-4) in relief of Fred Horner (26-3.8). Rookie RF Dave Odekirk (22-6.5) singled home the winning run. In 12 innings, McLeod allowed 11 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. Brooklyn (8) at Providence (9): Ed Hodges (27-3.2) (10-24) over Al Green (24-3.8) (18-21). For the 2nd day in a row, Providence won in the bottom of the 9th. This time they scored 4 runs to win. LF Fred Kerr (25-5.2) knocked in the winning run. RF John Froom (39-6.2) hit a home run. For the Gladiators, rookie 3B Ed Cheney (24-7.8) hit his 4th home run of the season. Green is 2-8 in his last 10 decisions.
Baltimore (7) at Omaha (6): Pop Yurkovich (35-5.6) (16-22) over Lou Ellard (29-6.3) (5-5). Yurkovich is 5-1 in his last 6 starts. For the Mutuals, 3B Bones Collins (32-4.4) hit his 4th home run of the year.
