Louisville Bourbons (38-40 .487 12 GB tied for 4th place in the Liberty League) at
Detroit Wolverines (49-27 .645 1st place)

Count Childs, Lou. (31-3.1) (R 11-19 4.69 9.7-3.8-3.0 H-BB-K/9) vs. Al Rice, Det. (22-7.6) (R 6-4 3.16 10.1-1.5-3.4).

We are 3-2 against Childs on the season.

Won - 3 to 2

Rice gave up a run in the 1st and a run in the 2nd and then got stingy.

Rice allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 1. At bat, he hit a double and had an RBI.

Childs gave us 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 1.

We did not make an error and Louisville made 1.

LF Al Lewis (22-9.1) hit a double and scored a run. 1B George House (28-4.3), one of the big surprises of the season, hit a double and his 4th home run of the year and had 2 RBIs. C Jimmy Babcock (30-6.8), another pleasant surprise, gave us an unpleasant surprise when he pulled his groin. He will miss most, if not all, of the rest of the season. The diagnosis is 8 weeks for recovery. CF Fred Bianco (28-6.9) had 2 hits.

Liberty League:

Boston (12) at Cleveland (4): William Little (26-6.0) (16-15) over Artie Boucher (24-6.1) (5-7). Little allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. SS John Ingling (27-4.6) hit 3 doubles, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Pittsburgh (15) at New York (1): Whitey Mathews (24-4.1) (15-14) over Jack Roberts (35-6.1) (10-23). Mathews allowed 8 hits, no walks and struck out 1. C Wilson Wendling (26-4.1) had 4 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.Rookie 3B Al Oglesby (23-7.6) had 4 hits and scored a run.

Indianapolis (10) at Cincinnati (5): Sal DeVaux (32-3.5) (14-11) over Charlie Branham (27-4.2) (23-17). DeVaux allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. He has won 8 in a row and the Hoosiers have won 11 straight.

Grand National Association:
Providence (9) at Brooklyn (11): Ren French (26-4.9) (17-16) over Ed Hodges (27-3.2) (9-22). Rookie 1B Fred Collins (23-5.2) hit his 3rd home run of the season.

Omaha (10) at Baltimore (7): Lee Sprague (27-3.5) (15-23) over Frank McSherry (32-4.1) (4-4). Sprague allowed 9 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. This was his 1st win in over a month after 9 straight losing decisions.

Kansas City (16) at St. Louis (3): Lew Burnett (26-4.5) (21-19) over Ted Ryther (33-4.3) (21-15). Burnett allowed 9 hits, 5 walks and struck out 3. 2B Jim McCarthy (26-7.5) had 4 hits with a triple, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. RF Tommy Dyer (29-3.8) had a hit and 2 walks, scored 4 runs and had an RBI. C Gene Stone (30-5.4) had 4 hits with a double, scored 4 runs and had 4 RBIs. For the Terriers, rookie LF Pat Matthews (24-5.1) had 4 hits with a double and scored a run.
