Left Fielder Mike Tiernan
All the injury news in June was bad for the Wolverines. They lost Right Fielder Ernie Burch with a hamstring strain. He will be sidelined for 4 weeks. They also lost third baseman Jerry McCormick late in the month. His diagnosis is not good after the team said he will be out for 6 weeks with a fractured tibia.
In an awful month for the team, 1 player managed to shine. That player was Centre Fielder Mike Tiernan. Tiernan picked up 35 hits from 91 at bats in 22 games. He scored 11 runs with 18 RBI's for an average of .385. These figures earned him the AL Rookie of the Month award.
