The fans of the Americans are still looking towards a pennant run this year after a second strong month of form. The team picked up a record of 14-11 during June to see them continue the hunt. They are still in 2nd place in the AL table but now sit 5 games behind the leaders.

Players to make the All Star Squad
Pitchers Ed Dugan and Bill Sweeney, Third Baseman Oyster Burns and Left Fielder Hub Collins

The team made further tweeks to the squad during the month.

They lost First Baseman John Smith to the Cincinnati Red Stockings via waivers.

They also traded 32 year old short stop Dave Rowe to the New York Giants in exchange for 29 year old minor league pitcher George Crosby and 23 year old minor league left fielder Dave Beadle.

The player with the best form during the month was Third Baseman Oyster Burns. Burns claimed 34 hits from 91 at bats in 23 games. He scored 23 runs with 22 RBI's and an average of .374.

The AL voters decided that Pitcher Ed Dugan was the best during the month and awarded him the AL Pitcher award for his 6 wins from 9 games with an ERA of 2.13.
