Manager/1B Pete Bucolo (39-4.1) has his Reds Caps in town to begin a 3 game series today. We beat them 3 of 4 in Boston a month ago the first time we met. They have dropped to 2nd in runs scored since 3B Bill Gordon (30-3.7) went out for the season, plating 7.1 runs per game (Detroit is still last with 5.8). They are 3rd in runs allowed with 6.3 per game (Detroit is still #1 with 4.9).

2B Jocko Cole (25-6.1) made 2 errors in the 9th inning and then C Frank Douglas (32-5.8) doubled to bring the Red Caps within a run They had runners at 2nd and 3rd with only one out, but Townley got the next batter to hit a grounder right back to himself and the last batter lined out to 3rd to end the game and let us escape with a win.

Townley allowed 12 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3.

We had 9 hits and 7 walks and made 6 errors. Boston made 4.
